Nutritional therapy is a recognised complementary medicine and is often the missing link between illness and good health. It bridges the gap between cutting edge nutrition science and individual biochemistry; we see each person as a unique, integrated system.
Nutritional therapy is a journey, and yours is different from anyone else. It’s not just what you eat, but how your own genetic makeup responds to the food you eat. The truth is that there is no one single diet or way of eating that works for everyone, regardless of whether you are recovering from an illness, managing a health condition, want to be in optimum health, or lose weight.
This means that when you come to me for nutrition advice, I don’t just look at one aspect of your health, or focus solely on what’s ‘wrong’. I’ll look at what you eat and what you don’t; how you live, how you think and how you see the world; plus your medical history, your exercise and fitness levels, and what you do to take care of yourself.
All of these things contribute to your current state of health, so they can all be a part of your journey to wellness and balance.
Is it for you?
If you’re looking for a quick fix, magic bullet, strict meal plan or to go on a diet, I can’t help you.
If you think healthy eating is about cutting down, cutting out, starving yourself or just getting through your program until you can eat ‘normally’ again, this isn’t for you.
But if you want to change to a new way of eating, thinking and living, I can help.
I work with my clients to empower them to make lasting transformation. Real transformation that means you achieve your goals, and you feel and look fantastic.
I’ll help you make the lifelong change from poor health, a bad relationship with your body, and seeing food as the enemy, to feeling amazing, loving yourself and getting real enjoyment from your food.
Prior to your consultation you’ll be asked to complete online diet, symptom and lifestyle questionnaires; you’ll also need to keep a food diary for a few days,
During your consultation we’ll talk more about the info you give me in these documents, and we’ll agree some initial steps you can take to begin your transformation to a healthier and happier you. Your nutritional consultations are a collaborative process; nutritional therapy isn’t done to you, it’s done with you.
I’ll use my knowledge, skills and experience to help, advise and guide you in how and what to eat, and to encourage and support you on your journey. And of course I’ll give you meal ideas and strategies for making change. You’ll need to approach your treatment with an open mind, be prepared to work with me to try new things, and most of all, be willing to take that journey. If what you’ve tried before hasn’t worked, it’s time to try something new.
